Dale had to give a talk in Ward Conference on Sunday. It was Bishop Thomas, President Hess and Dale. Dale did a great job, he came up with his own subject and story and I helped him with the scripture references. I put his talk below for Bettie to read but its worth reading regardless. Dales Talk...
In Jacob 3:1 it says “Look unto God with firmness of mind, and pray unto him with exceeding faith”.

Two days ago my family went with my aunt and uncle Bettie and Lance to The City of Rocks. My uncle Lance climbed to the top of bathtub rock. He wanted me to go but I was to nervous to go with him because it was 100 feet of very steep climbing. After Lance came back my aunt Bettie and my mom decided to climb to the top so Danny and I went with them. There are a few places that are very physically and mentally tough. I had to find hand-holds and hold on tight while I moved my feet around to find another place to step. After all four of us made it to the top we carefully moved around to take pictures then we sat down and looked over the odd valley of rocks that looked like a granite city. We took a few minutes to talk about how scary the climb was and my mom said it was harder then she remembered. My Aunt Bettie told us about a talk she went to about fear and how it had changed her life, she said it was by John Bytheway and I like him so I was paying better attention when she said, “faith and fear cannot coexist in the same heart”. So I figured out that if I am afraid or don’t think I can do something I have to have more faith, and if I have to much doubt then I cannot have faith in my heart.
When we climbed back down bathtub rock it was very scary to look 100 feet down to the trees and dirt. The trees looked like little bushes. As I worked my way down I kept repeating in my mind “faith and fear cannot be together”, “faith and fear cannot be together”. We made it to the bottom safely and it was a lot of fun.

When I was preparing my talk I found this quote by President Monson. “Faith and doubt cannot exist in the same mind at the same time, for one will dispel the other.” Which means if your mind is full of doubt then your faith will disappear but if you work harder on your faith then your doubt and fear will disappear.

The Lord loves us and we are his children and he wants what is best for us. If we ask for help and have faith and listen to the answers the lord will help us find the right way to go.
In Proverbs 3: verse 5 and 6 it says “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
